Volunteer/Intern

Advocates for the West often needs an extra hand in the field, or in our downtown Boise office. Help out, in whatever way works for you.

Give time.

Go behind the scenes! Lend a hand with anything from mailings to events. Even consider joining our Board of Directors.

Give expertise.

We are often on the lookout for scientific research and expert testimony to boost our cases. Lend your wisdom.

Intern with us.

Advocates for the West often takes on summer interns.

Legal Interns:
We hire 1-2 law clerks to work in our Boise, Idaho office during the summer.  Law clerks work closely with Advocates for the West’s attorneys – primarily on federal court environmental litigation. Law student applicants with strong writing skills and demonstrated interest in environmental matters are preferred.

We will also consider hiring a summer law clerk to work in our Portland, Oregon office, and we occasionally host legal externs or legal volunteers in the Boise office throughout the year.

If you are currently a law student looking to further your knowledge of environmental litigation, consider spending a summer working with us! Contact Staff Attorney Bryan Hurlbutt to find out more about our legal intern program.

Other Opportunities:
If you are seeking an administrative or fundraising internship/volunteer work, please contact Operations Manager Aries Bergstrom for more information.
