Max Stein, Vice Chair (Boise, ID)

Max is a strategic leader in business development and policy, currently working at Clēnera, an independent power producer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from Colorado College and a Master of Science in Sustainable Water Management from Tufts University.

He has built his career around a deep commitment to innovation, environmental stewardship, and resilience. After working with six startup founders, he believes strongly in the importance of social accountability. He has successfully executed projects in four countries by uniting private organizations, government agencies, non-profits, and citizens to address complex challenges.

Max has served as a Livability Ambassador for the City of Boise and as a volunteer with Idaho Smart Growth. He was instrumental in passing Idaho Benefit Corporation Law, a new class of business governance required to create a positive material impact on society and the environment. He remains dedicated to preserving public lands and natural resources for future generations.

Max enjoys trail running, backcountry skiing, and hunting. He continues to organize a community ski mountaineering race series at Bogus Basin. He lives in Boise with his wife, young son and daughter, and border collie mix.
